About

PWI San Diego brings together insurance professionals throughout San Diego County to network and grow.

our Story

In January 1981, Fireman’s Fund hosted a Professional Selling Workshop attended by 26 women. Inspired by the experience, the attendees decided to create a professional organization dedicated to advancing individuals in the insurance industry, with a focus on supporting women. The first meeting took place in August 1981, led by coordinator Gloria Linkey, and by September 1982, the organization was officially established as Professional Women in Insurance, with Gloria Linkey serving as the inaugural president.

In 2008, the name was shortened to PWI to reflect the growing diversity of its membership, which now includes both men and women. PWI is a local, independent organization and is not affiliated with any national group.
